A greenhouse, also known as a hothouse, is a building with cold-proof, heating and light-transmitting facilities. It is mainly used to provide a growth period and increase yield in seasons that are not suitable for plant growth. It is mostly used for the cultivation or seedling raising of warm-loving vegetables, flowers, trees and other plants in low-temperature seasons. The main function of a greenhouse is to achieve non-seasonal or non-regional plant cultivation, scientific research, generation breeding and ornamental plant cultivation by controlling or partially controlling the plant growth environment.

The greenhouse allows sunlight to enter through light-transmitting materials (such as glass or plastic film), and maintains the indoor temperature through a heating system (if any) to ensure that plants can grow normally in an environment that is not suitable for growth. The structure and equipment of the greenhouse can be adjusted as needed to meet the different growth needs of plants.
