Choose the right time: The time for covering the film should be determined according to the crop type and local climatic conditions. For example, after strawberries are planted in autumn, they are usually covered before winter and before budding in early spring. In cold areas, covering before winter is more favorable. Generally, it is more appropriate to do it when the average temperature of the day drops to 3-5℃.
Pay attention to the laying method: When laying the ground film, it should be done in windless weather. The ground film should be laid flat on the ground in a straight line to make the film stretch without wrinkles, and the ground film should be tightly covered with soil. If the bed surface is too long, the soil can be pressed horizontally at a certain distance to prevent the film from being blown up and torn by the wind.
Film breaking and management: For already planted crops, the film should be broken in time to lead out the seedlings. The opening of the film should not be too large or too small, just enough to expose the seedlings. The opening of the film around the plants should be compacted with soil to enhance the film covering effect. During the growth of crops, it is necessary to check whether the film is damaged or leaking, and repair or replace it in time.

Another is infiltration irrigation, where infiltration pipes are buried underground to allow water to penetrate into the soil through small holes in the pipe wall, but this method is relatively expensive. If furrow irrigation is used, appropriate openings need to be made in the mulch to allow water to flow into the furrows. After irrigation, the openings should be closed in time to reduce water loss.
