Key points of drainage ditch design
Slope and flow direction: The drainage ditch should have a certain slope to ensure that water can flow smoothly to the drain outlet. Generally, the slope should be between 0.5% and 2%, so as to avoid excessive slope, which may cause water to flow too fast and damage the substrate, or too small slope, which may cause poor drainage.
Width and depth: For small-scale home hydroponic strawberry systems, a width of 10-15 cm and a depth of 8-12 cm are sufficient; in large-scale commercial planting facilities, the width may need to be 30-50 cm or even wider, and the depth may need to be about 20-30 cm to ensure that a large amount of accumulated water can be discharged in time.
Filtration and anti-blocking: Filtering devices such as filter screens and filter cloths are set at the entrance of the drainage ditch to prevent debris such as coconut shell peat particles or strawberry roots from entering the drainage ditch and causing blockage. Some obstacles or guide plates can also be set in the ditch to slow down the water flow, so that impurities in the water have more opportunities to settle at the bottom of the ditch, and these sediments should be cleaned regularly.

1.What special advantages do coconut shell peat drains have over traditional drains for growing strawberries?
Coconut shell peat drainage ditch combines the advantages of coconut shell and peat. The air permeability of coconut shell ensures that the roots of strawberries can continuously obtain oxygen, which is extremely important for the respiration of the roots of hydroponic strawberries, because if the roots lack oxygen in the hydroponic system, it is easy to cause poor root development or even root rot. Peat can play a role in buffering and retaining water and fertilizer. It can absorb nutrients in the nutrient solution and slowly release them to the strawberries, reducing the loss of nutrients and helping to maintain the stability of the nutrient solution composition. Compared with the simple drainage function of traditional drainage ditches, this type of drainage ditch is more conducive to the healthy growth of strawberries.
2.Is the drainage efficiency of coconut shell peat gutters sufficient for strawberry hydroponics?
As long as the design is reasonable, coconut shell peat drainage ditches can fully meet the needs. The slope design, width and depth can ensure drainage efficiency. For example, at a normal slope of 0.5%-2%, the water flow can naturally drain the excess nutrient solution, and the good drainage of coconut shell itself also helps the water to quickly pass through the medium layer into the drainage ditch. At the same time, through the reasonable layout of branch ditches and main ditches, the accumulated water in the entire hydroponic system can be effectively collected and discharged.
3.How to clean debris and settled peat from coir peat gutters?
Regular manual cleaning (such as weekly or biweekly) is a more effective method. You can first remove the filter device, clean the debris on it, and then use a small shovel or brush to clean the sediment at the bottom and wall of the drain. For more stubborn sediment, you can rinse it with a small amount of clean water and flush the impurities into the collection container at the drainage outlet to prevent it from re-entering the hydroponic system.
4.What is the payment?
Usually our payment term is: T/T 50% deposit, and the balance paid before shipment or against copy of B/L.
5.How can you make sure your quality control?
We have very strict quality control system. Each piece of our goods would be checked several times strictly before shipping, and we are glad to accept the Third-party inspection company to quality check. Also we will full refund in case of any bad quality.
